Reiki Symbols

The knowledge of Reiki symbols is a must if a person is willing to get into the practise of Reiki. These symbols play a significant part in this one of a kind spiritual and physical healing.

These symbols are also referred to as cryptic symbols and were used in traditional Reiki earlier. These symbols have also been in controversy and caused a lot of confusion among the starters in classes because they were taught in the second level of spiritual healing. In fact researchers had a hard time decoding these original Reiki symbols. Different variations were made by different Reiki masters on these symbols.

As time passed more and more Reiki masters started to make their own variations of the symbols that are widely used in the practice of Reiki. This sparked a controversy on the Reiki symbols. So to clear it, a lot of Reiki masters came out with a book that “supposedly” contained original Reiki symbols which are used in the practise.

This, one way or the other helped clear some confusion in the minds of Reiki students but some Reiki masters possessing high level of practice felt degraded. The reason being, now even the neophytes could learn the practices of Reiki in a short span of time that used to take a lot time to master.

Aiding effective practice of Reiki

There are four Reiki symbols that has a standard meaning in every school where it is been practised These are the four symbols :

1.    The Power symbol or the “Cho Ku Rei.” It means “put all the power of universe here.” This symbol is widely used by the Reiki masters to increase the focus or the power of Reiki. Ch oKu Rei is used before beginning and at the end of the session to seal the Reiki healing powers. It is also used to clean and protect the person or other things from the attack of supernatural powers.

2.    The Mental-Emotional Symbol or the “Sei He Ki.” It means” God and humanity becomes one.” Sei He Ki symbol is used by Reiki masters in balancing the left and right side of the brain to help attain peace and harmony of the person. People facing problems in relationships, mental issues, emotional imbalances, memory loss can heal with this symbol.

3.    The Distance Symbol or the “Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen.” This Reiki symbol helps a person clear his emotions and psychological conditions thus enabling the channels gradually. “Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen” has five meanings that include: origin or source, person, just or right, certainty or correctness, and an idea or thought. More and more Reiki masters use this symbol to send the power of Reiki in the times of yore or in the in close proximity so that it can be retrieved when required.

4.    The Attunement Symbol or the “Dai Ko Myo.”  It is also known as a symbol for understanding and gift of insight. First and foremost the symbol is used to help the student to attain different levels of Reiki power. A person’s soul and spirit is cleaned and healed by this symbol.
